When it comes to postpaid plans, private telcos are the go-to option for consumers as they offer better benefits than the state-run telco Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited. BSNL has introduced various postpaid plans such as Rs 299, Rs 499 and so on to attract users, but the lack of data rollover facility is hurting it very badly. BSNL has now introduced a new Rs 798 postpaid plan taking on Airtel's Rs 799 postpaid plan. With the newly launched plan, the telco is offering a whopping 120GB of 2G/3G data, unlimited voice calling, 100 SMS per day and free Amazon Prime subscription for one year. In contrast, Bharti Airtel is offering 100GB of 2G/3G/4G data, unlimited voice calling, 100 SMS per day, free Amazon Prime subscription for one year and free Netflix subscription for three months.

BSNL Rs 798 Postpaid Plan: Benefits and Details

As noted, BSNL is providing a total of 120GB of data with the newly introduced Rs 798 postpaid plan. However, there are a couple of things to note. Firstly, the data benefit can be used only on 2G or 3G networks as the telco is yet to introduce 4G services in the country. As you might be aware of by now, BSNL is testing 4G services in various parts of the country and if you reside in the testing area, you'll be able to use the data benefit in 4G network. The second thing to note is the Rs 798 plan from BSNL doesn't come with data carry forward option, meaning you'll have to make use of the 120GB data in a single month, otherwise, it'll lapse.

To recall, BSNL is providing carry forward facility with the Rs 525 postpaid plan in Kolkata circle, but it's yet to implement the same across the other 19 circles. Besides the data benefit, the Rs 798 postpaid plan from BSNL offers unlimited voice calling including in Mumbai and Delhi circles, and 100 SMS per day. Lastly, users choosing this plan will also be able to enjoy free Amazon Prime subscription for one year. BSNL is providing Amazon Prime subscription with its postpaid plans priced over Rs 399.

BSNL has introduced this postpaid plan in Karnataka circle at the moment, but it might be rolled out in all the circles very soon.

BSNL Rs 798 Postpaid Plan Vs Airtel Rs 799 Plan

This new postpaid plan from BSNL takes on Airtel's Rs 799 plan. While BSNL is offering 120GB of data, Airtel is shipping 100GB of data. However, the data benefit on Airtel can be used on 2G/3G/4G networks, unlike BSNL which is restricted to 2G/3G. Like BSNL, Airtel is also providing unlimited voice calling, 100 SMS per day and one-year of Amazon Prime subscription for free with the Rs 799 postpaid plan.

However, what separates Airtel's plan is the presence of data carry forward feature and free three months of Netflix subscription. As mentioned, BSNL's Rs 798 postpaid plan is currently available only in Karnataka circle and it's unknown when the telco is planning to introduce it in other circles. Additionally, BSNL is offering the Rs 499 plan with 45GB of data, unlimited calling and 100 SMS per day at Rs 401 in Karnataka for a limited period. So if you reside in Karnataka circle and looking for a postpaid plan, you should consider these plans from BSNL. The government-owned PSU will be soon launching 4G services as it received the surrendered 4G spectrum from the government.
