Nokia 6.1 Plus vs Nokia 5.1 Plus: Differences and Similarities in Design, Performance and Pricing

Finnish giant, HMD Global has been making very frequent launches as of late. Nokia has debuted two new Android One smartphones in the market which are making the rounds of the internet. The Nokia X6 and Nokia X5 were rebranded as the Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 5.1 Plus for the Indian market. Despite their similar naming, there are quite a lot of differences between both of these phones. Below we shed some light on these differences, on what grounds these two phones differ and how they are similar.

Nokia 5.1 Plus and Nokia 6.1 Plus Design and Display

Both the Nokia phones sport the same 5.84-inch IPS LCD, however, the Nokia 6.1 Plus gets a much better Full HD+ resolution with 1080×2280 pixels, and also comes with the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection. On the other hand, the Nokia 5.1 Plus only gets the HD resolution of 720×1520 pixels, and it also doesn’t sport Corning Gorilla Glass for protection. The only similarity in these two is of the screen size. The pixel density also differs, as the Nokia 6.1 Plus gets 432ppi on-screen whereas the Nokia 5.1 Plus only has a pixel density of 287ppi. The notch on the Nokia 6.1 Plus, also allows for a much better screen real-estate giving the phone a more modern look as compared to the Nokia 5.1 Plus. The build quality is also a key differentiator these two phones like the Nokia 6.1 Plus sports a glass aluminium body, whereas, the Nokia 5.1 sports plastic body. The rest of the design aspects of both these phones, including the camera orientation and the location of the fingerprint sensor remain the same.

These two phones pack processors which are not at all alike. While the Nokia 6.1 Plus comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset clocking a frequency of 1.8GHz, the Nokia 5.1 Plus packs a MediaTek Helio P60 SoC that gets clock speeds up to 2.0GHz. On the graphics front, the Adreno 509 GPU power the Nokia 6.1 Plus, whereas the Nokia 5.1 Plus features the Mali-G72 MP3.
