After building a lot of hype for the launch of its latest flagship phone, the OnePlus 6, it seems that the Chinese company is now preparing for the launch of a new colour variant for the same phone. In a new update, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has uploaded a teaser video on Twitter which hints towards the launch of a Lava Red OnePlus 6 variant. Speaking from the customer perspective, this move comes as no surprise since the company has also launched a Lava Red edition for its previous phone – the OnePlus 5T.
The 15-second teaser video which was posted on Twitter from the official OnePlus account shows a man stepping out of a red room and analysing a vial of red crystal. The video ends with the words ‘July 2nd’ on screen. It also features the hashtag #OnePlus6. In the caption, the company has also hinted at the new colour by giving away the hex code, which is C61422. Marques Brownlee, another tech YouTuber picked up on the news and showcased the red colour variant of OnePlus 6 lying beneath the black colour variant, with just the edge of the new phone protruding out.
Not only this, images of the red coloured OnePlus6 have also been posted online by the leak site Slashleaks. The Lava Red colour of the phone can be seen clearly in this image, as it comes with a strikingly bright shine. The OnePlus 6 is already available in three colour options- Midnight Black, Mirror Black and Silk White.
With this move, OnePlus has definitely garnered a lot of attention from the buyers and tech enthusiasts alike. The introduction of the Lava Red edition of flagship will also bring in some more renewed sales for the Chinese phone manufacturer. It will be interesting to see whether the new colour variant will be launched in India or not.
In other news, OnePlus has started seeding a new update in China. In mainland China, where the OnePlus 6 runs HydrogenOS, the company has pushed the HydrogenOS 5.1.10 update to the users. On the same lines, the Global ROM for the OnePlus, which is the OxygenOS is likely to be rolled out to the users around the world which will bump up the version of the OS to 5.1.9. This new update fixes all the bugs in the previous build and also patches the much talked about connectivity issues.
The current build of OxygenOS, which is the 5.1.8 is riddled with some bugs. For example, users are noticing some weird battery drain issues such as the device shuts down when the phone reaches 20% of juice. Some users are facing issues related to network connectivity.

Talking about the specifications of the OnePlus 6, the device comes with a 2.8GHz Snapdragon 845 chipset. It features 6.28-inch Optic AMOLED display will a Full HD+ (1080 × 2280 pixels) resolution along with a 19:9 aspect ratio. The phone also sports a premium glass construction surrounding a metal frame. On the imaging front, the OnePlus 6 has 16MP+20MP dual cameras at the back with dual-LED flash, f/1.7 aperture, Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), and Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS). For selfies, the phone sports a 16MP camera. The battery with 3300mAh power (5V 4A) comes accompanied by Dash Charging technology. Due to its very attractive pricing and premium specifications the phone was very well received all around the globe. However, soon after the launch, many phone users around the globe were confronted by connectivity issues and some trouble relating to double taps on the OnePlus 6. However, the new update by OnePlus seeks to fix all these issues.
In India, the OnePlus 6 retails for Rs 34,999 for its entry-level variant with 6GB of ram and 64GB of memory. The 8GB RAM+128GB storage model comes at the price of Rs 39,999. Right now, the phone comes in Mirror Black of Midnight Black variant. There is also a limited-edition Silk White variant which packs 8GB RAM+128GB storage configuration and has a price tag of Rs 39,999. Recently, the company also launched an 8GB RAM+256GB storage option in Midnight Black colour at Rs 43,999.
