Nokia 2 Receives Android 8.1 Oreo Update Through Beta Program

HMD Global has finally released the Android 8.1 Oreo update to its entry-level Nokia 2 smartphone. However, the update has been releasing through the company’s Nokia Phones Beta Labs program, but it will be a matter of time for the Finnish upstart company to roll out the stable version of the update. The Nokia 2 is the last smartphone under HMD’s product portfolio released in 2017 and is yet to receive the Android 8.1 Oreo update. Other Nokia smartphones including the Nokia 3 received the update earlier this year. Also, the company stated that the 8.1 build for the Nokia 2 would include Android Go memory optimisations to enhance the performance of the smartphone.

So if you’re a Nokia 2 owner, you can head over to the company’s beta program website and sign in to get started. Do make a note that the beta build will have some bugs, which might deteriorate the user experience. We’re hoping that all the features of Android 8.1 Oreo will be present in this beta build of Nokia 2. The handset is currently on Android 7.1.1 Nougat and will directly jump to Android 8.1 Oreo.

Nokia 2 Specifications and Features
As mentioned, the Nokia 2 is the only smartphone under HMD’s 2017 portfolio which is not yet running Android 8.1 Oreo. The smartphone boasts a 5-inch HD display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. It’s powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 chipset, clubbed with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage.
