When Reliance Jio launched its postpaid plan, it caused the stocks of both Idea Cellular and Bharti Airtel to take a dip. In order to change the Indian postpaid market, Jio introduced an aggressive scheme called JioPostpaid to tackle the postpaid plans from Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India and Idea Cellular. As expected, Jio has introduced an aggressive plan of Rs 199 that offers better benefits than incumbent operators at half of the price. Also, the JioPostpaid plan will offer special benefits for international roaming. With so many plans in the market right now, we make a detailed comparison of the postpaid plans by Airtel, Jio, Vodafone and Idea.
JioPostpaid plan at Rs 199
This postpaid plan by Jio offers 25GB of high-speed data. There will also be a Rs 20 charge above the limit of 25GB which will be levied on per GB basis after the exhaustion of FUP. Features like unlimited SMS, short messaging services, free unlimited local and STD calls will be bundled with this plan. Also, users will be eligible to activate international roaming with one click and no cost. The above-listed services will come pre-activated in these postpaid plans.
Airtel postpaid plan of Rs 399
The postpaid plan of Airtel will offer a bit less data of about 20GB with 3G/4G speed. However, it will come with the data rollover facility which means that subscribers of this plan will be able to avail unused data in their next billing cycle. Airtel will also bundle free unlimited local and STD calling and free roaming as part of this plan. Additionally, Airtel will also provide users with add-ons like the subscription to Wynk Music. International roaming activation, however, will be chargeable in this plan and will be billed at the cost of Rs 149 per month.
Vodafone postpaid plan of Rs 399
To counter the sweeping wave of postpaid plans by all the telcos, Vodafone has introduced its RED postpaid plans which come at the price of Rs 399 and offer unlimited local and STD calling with free roaming. In a billing cycle, the users will be able to enjoy 20GB of high-speed data, and there will also be a data rollover facility which will be capped at 200GB, meaning that users will be able to avail up to 200GB of data in the next billing cycle if left unused. A 12-month subscription of Vodafone Play will also be bundled with this plan which users can use to watch movies and TV shows for free. Like the Airtel plan, international roaming will be charged at the price of Rs 149 per month.
Idea Cellular postpaid plan of Rs 389
Lastly, the postpaid plan which Idea Cellular offers will come with 20GB bundled high-speed data along with unlimited local and STD calling and free roaming. This plan will also accompany 300 free SMS per month. Like the other plans above, this plan will also offer international roaming at the cost of Rs 149 per month along with a few additional charges. Speaking of add-ons, this app will come bundled with a free subscription to Idea apps.
With Jio introducing new postpaid plans in the market, the tariff war between the telcos has become even more intense. Apart from postpaid offers, Airtel and Reliance Jio have also announced their offers on the Apple Watch Series 3 Cellular version in very close succession, again hinting towards a solid competition between both the telcos.
