May will be the month of flagships as top-tier brands are unveiling their flagship smartphones. After LG launching its G7 ThinQ device, HTC is now all geared up to introduce its 2018 flagship smartphone, the HTC U12+. Its been just over six months since the arrival of HTC U11+ smartphone, but HTC is already working on the U12+, which will go official on May 23. HTC USA Twitter account has confirmed the launch touting the smartphone “is more than the sum of its specs.” Some of you might be wondering why the device will be called as HTC U12+ and not HTC U12, well that's what rumours suggest. The device will be a successor the U11+ which was launched last year.
There have been numerous reports on the web regarding the HTC U12+, right from the renders of the device to the specifications. And going by the rumours, the U12+ will feature top-of-the-line hardware. The U12+ is rumoured to sport a 5.99-inch Quad HD+ display with a resolution of 2880 × 1440 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio. The device will not feature a notch on the top like other devices such as the LG G7 ThinQ and the upcoming OnePlus 6.
The smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform paired with up to 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Last year during the launch of U11+, HTC said that it would launch a dual camera smartphone in 2018 and the first one could be the U12+. The phone is said to pack two cameras of 16MP and 12MP at the back with the secondary sensor acting as a telephoto lens. There will be an 8MP front-facing camera.
The phone will be available with up to 256GB of internal storage, and there will be a microSD card slot for storage expansion. HTC is claimed to be using different materials to build the smartphone. The phone will arrive with Matte White Metal and Glass design.
The battery capacity of the device is said to be a 3420mAh unit, and it will be an IP68 certified smartphone. HTC will add some other features to make the device stand out from the crowd, unlike LG which released the least exciting G7 ThinQ.
