Xiaomi Mi 6X Expected to Come With Better Rear Cameras than the Redmi Note 5 Pro

Xiaomi’s upcoming smartphone Mi 6X has been spotted on Chinese regulator TENAA website a number of times. The TENAA listing of the phone reveals it is powered by an octa-core processor that clocks at 2.2GHz. Earlier reports hinted the Mi 6X would be featuring Snapdragon 636 SoC or Snapdragon 660 as both the chipsets are clocked at 2.2GHz. However, the fresh information reveals it could pack MediaTek Helio P60 SoC under the hood. This would be a fine alternative to the Snapdragon 636 SoC as the Helio P60 has four Cortex-A73 cores, but the Mali-G72 MP3 GPU doesn’t match the Adreno Graphics unit present on the Qualcomm chipsets.

Further, the TENAA listing revealed that the Xiaomi Mi 6X would come in two variants based on memory configuration. These would be a 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant and a 6GB RAM + 128GB storage version. Though live images of the phone hint a dual camera setup, the website only lists one 20MP sensor on the back. The front side is too said to feature the same 20MP selfie camera.

Recently, XDA Developers Editor-in-Chief Mishaal Rahman shed some more light on the cameras of Xiaomi Mi 6X. He claims the handset may feature Sony IMX486 + IMX36 dual camera system and Sony IMX376 front-facing camera. This means the main shooter of the primary dual camera setup is the 12MP, 1.25 µm paired with a higher resolution 20MP, 1 µm secondary shooter. The selfie camera will use another IMX 376 20MP sensor. These are the upgraded cameras found on the Redmi Note 5 Pro.

The same person has now hinted that the Mi 6X will not pack MediaTek Helio P60 chipset and the phone will come with a Snapdragon chipset only.

As for the other specs, the Xiaomi Mi 6X is revealed to sport a 5.99-inch IPS LCD display with FHD+ resolution and 18:9 screen aspect ratio. The smartphone will be fueled by a 2910mAh and may come loaded with the Android 8.1 Oreo overlaid with the latest MIUI skin.

The leaked live images of the phone reveal a design similar to the recently launched Redmi Note 5 Pro, though it retains the U-shaped antennas lines around the top and bottom ends from the Mi 5X. The rear panel shows vertically placed dual camera sensor with flash in between and fingerprint scanner placed in the centre of the panel.

With Mi 6X spotted on TENAA, it is speculated the Chinese phone maker may launch it soon. The company is expected to make the phone official on an event planned on April 25. The Mi 6X will launch as Mi A2 Android One phone outside China and information from Xiaomi’s official Indian website hints arrival of the same soon.
