Xiaomi Mi A2, Redmi Y2 Expected to Launch in India Very Soon

Following the launch of flagship Mi Mix 2S, Xiaomi has a couple of other smartphones in the pipeline. The Xiaomi Mi 6X has already been certified by TENAA in China and will be introduced as Mi A2 worldwide (well, if we go through that Mi 5X and Mi A1 combination). Now it seems, the Xiaomi Mi A2 and Redmi Y2 are likely to debut in India soon. A tipster on Twitter (Ishan Agarwal) was able to find references to the Mi A2 and upcoming Redmi Y2 in the source code of the Indian website of Xiaomi. Texts such as “Mi A2 Hard Case”, “Redmi Y2 Perforated Case Black” and “Redmi Y2 Perforated Case Blue” were spotted in the source code of official Xiaomi website. The texts are no longer available on the website and seem to have been removed. The tipster, however, was able to capture the same on the screenshots.

Similar to Mi A1, the Xiaomi Mi A2 is expected to be launched as part of Android One initiative. Codenamed M1804D2SC, the alleged Mi A2 seems to copy the Redmi Note 5 Pro design, including vertically aligned dual camera and fingerprint sensor placement. However, the phone will come with a metal unibody design with curved antenna bands visible across the top and bottom edges.

As per the specifications, the Mi A2 will reportedly come with a 5.99-inch IPS LCD display that supports FHD+ resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. It’s expected to be powered by a 2910mAh battery, and as per the listing, the dimensions of the phone are 158.88×75.54×7.3mm.
