Xiaomi Mi A1 Gets Official Android 8.1 Oreo Through Beta ROM

Xiaomi is yet to release the Android 8.1 Oreo update to the Android One based Mi A1 smartphone. The company has been silent for months now despite several questions from the users on social media platforms. But it seems like Mi A1 users do not have to wait longer as Xiaomi has now rolled a new update to Mi A1 Beta users which shows the Android version as 8.1.0. Furthermore, a Mi A1 user on Reddit has posted the screenshot of About Phone section after updating the device to the latest beta ROM, which also revealed that the device would come with April 2018 security patches installed.

The new Beta version comes with model number- OPM1.171019.019.8.4.9, but the stable version will carry a different model number. The user did not post the features included in the latest beta update, but most likely all the features which Google included in the update will make into the Mi A1 as well. Google revamped the power menu and introduced a couple of new changes as well. The Mi A1 is also expected to receive Project Treble support with the upcoming 8.1 Oreo update.

Xiaomi might release the stable version of Android 8.1 Oreo to all the users with the April 2018 security update later this month. But nothing is confirmed by the company though. Even the beta rollout was not revealed by Xiaomi, it was a Beta user with Reddit username sharkcpn posted a screenshot of the About Phone section.
