WhatsApp Spotted Testing Locked Recordings Feature for Android Users

Another day, another WhatsApp beta update is rolling out to Android users in the beta program. After increasing the Delete for Everyone time limit by a whopping 68 minutes, WhatsApp has now started testing the much-awaited Locked Recordings feature. As the name itself suggests, Locked Recordings allows users to lock the record button, meaning users need not have to tap and hold the recording button. For the unaware, the same feature was rolled out to iOS users last year but never made available to Android users. But finally, WhatsApp is found testing the feature, but we're not sure when the feature will be available for all the users.

Being a small feature, WhatsApp might add it to the beta version by the end of this month. Alongside Locked Recordings, WhatsApp is also testing preview recordings feature, meaning a user can preview the recording before sending it to the recipient. That said, this feature will also make into the public beta version very soon, but there's no timeline for the rollout though.

With locked recordings feature, the Facebook-owned company is looking to solve the major issue of holding the record button before sending a recording file. iOS users are already enjoying the locked recordings feature, and very soon, Android users can enjoy the same.

WhatsApp has been seriously working on improving its standalone apps on all the platforms. WhatsApp primary focus in Android and iOS, followed by Windows Phone. Another change spotted by WABetaInfo in the latest beta update is the size of a sticker pack. For the uninitiated, we have reported that WhatsApp will be rolling out Stickers feature for all its users across the globe. After enabling, a user will be able to see the size of a sticker pack. This is the same feature Hike is already offering on its platform.

Just yesterday, we reported that WhatsApp is now allowing users to delete a message within 4096 seconds (more than 68 minutes). But this feature is also limited to Android users for now, however, it's expected to make its way to iOS platform in the coming days.
