Following the launch of the yearly plan with unlimited calls and internet, Bharti Airtel has rolled out another long-term prepaid plan at the same price of the yearly plan- Rs 995. The new plan comes with a validity of 180 days and offers benefits such as unlimited calls and messages. Airtel’s Rs 995 prepaid plan offers unlimited local, and STD calls along with national roaming. Airtel has also bundled 1GB of 3G/4G data usage per month with this plan. Included in this recharge pack is free 100 SMS per day. The plan is valid for 180 days.
As per Airtel’s website, the voice calling is truly unlimited without any daily or weekly FUP. The company also says the plan is applicable on all handsets. When we first checked this offer, the plan was valid for select customers in Tamil Nadu circle, but before writing this article (today), we have rechecked the offer availability, and it's valid for all the prepaid numbers I checked for in circles Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, Delhi NCR, and Karnataka. Comment down below if it's valid in your circle.
The Rs 995 plan is great for users who require long-term voice calling but don’t use much internet. On the other hand, if you are looking for a data plan, this is not a suitable plan. This is because Airtel offers mere 6GB of high speed data for the validity period, with 1GB usage per month. But again, you can add the data add-on plan of Rs 193 that gives 1GB data per day for the entire 180 days unlimited validity period.
On the flip side, if you are looking for a daily data plan, Airtel's Rs 999 plan is a logical choice. This plan comes bundled with 60GB data along with unlimited calling and messaging service. The plan, however, in comparison comes with a rather lesser validity of 90 days.
With Rs 999 recharge, Airtel gives you 60GB of 3G/4G internet data for a period of 90 days. There’s no FUP for data usage which means you can use the entire data within a day. Other benefits like unlimited voice calling with local, STD and outgoing national roaming is included in the plan. As well there’s provision for 100 texts per day.
Both of Airtel’s long-term plans are a great answer to Reliance Jio's affordable prepaid plans. With Rs 995 plan Airtel will take on its competitor Jio’s long-term plans. Jio doesn’t have a six-month-long prepaid plan available at this price. Jio’s only 180-day validity plan starts at Rs 1999. Though it does offer far more data than Airtel, the Bharti’s lower price will attract more customers looking for long-term validity.
