Reliance Jio Secured 17th Place in Fast Company’s List of World’s 50 Most Innovative Companies

Fast Company, which is world’s leading progressive business media brand today announced its annual ranking of the world's 50 Most Innovative Companies (MIC) for 2018. The Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio secured 17th spot on the global list and also ranked at No. 1 position for the Most Innovative Companies in India. With the launch of affordable 4G services in India, Reliance Jio changed the dynamics of Indian telecom industry and also made India the leading country in terms of data consumption.

"Reliance Jio has been at the forefront of technology and innovation bringing transformational changes to the Indian digital services space and propelling India into global leadership in the digital economy. With their eco-system comprising of a network, devices, applications and content, Jio has revolutionised the Indian telecom landscape, becoming the highest quality and most affordable data market in the world," said a media statement from Reliance Jio.

“Since the launch of Jio, our mission has been bold yet simple: to make broadband technology affordable and accessible to every person in India,” stated Akash Ambani, Director, Reliance Jio. “We have sought nothing less than a complete transformation of the Indian telecom sector, fueled by our commitment to bring the best products, services and value to our customers, and continuous innovation plays a major role in delivering on that promise.”

Apart from Reliance Jio, other global companies such as Apple, Netflix, Tencent, Amazon, Spotify, and many others are on the list. For the unaware, Fast Company releases a list of top 50 innovative companies every year, and the list will be curated from Fast Company's Top 10 lists, which recognise pioneering companies across 36 categories, from artificial intelligence to wellness.

"More than three dozen Fast Company editors, reporters, and contributors surveyed thousands of companies—many of which were identified by a new MIC submission process—to create these lists," added the statement.

Cupertino giant, Apple secured top spot, followed by Netflix, Square, Tencent, Amazon, and others. And Reliance Jio is rated for putting India on the fast track in terms of data consumption. Elon Musk's Space X and maps application Waze are present on the list too.
