Reliance Jio Secured 17th Place in Fast Company’s List of World’s 50 Most Innovative Companies

Fast Company, which is world’s leading progressive business media brand today announced its annual ranking of the world’s 50 Most Innovative Companies (MIC) for 2018. The Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio secured 17th spot on the global list and also ranked at No. 1 position for the Most Innovative Companies in India. With the launch of affordable 4G services in India, Reliance Jio changed the dynamics of Indian telecom industry and also made India the leading country in terms of data consumption.

“Reliance Jio has been at the forefront of technology and innovation bringing transformational changes to the Indian digital services space and propelling India into global leadership in the digital economy. With their eco-system comprising of a network, devices, applications and content, Jio has revolutionised the Indian telecom landscape, becoming the highest quality and most affordable data market in the world,” said a media statement from Reliance Jio.

“Since the launch of Jio, our mission has been bold yet simple: to make broadband technology affordable and accessible to every person in India,” stated Akash Ambani, Director, Reliance Jio. “We have sought nothing less than a complete transformation of the Indian telecom sector, fueled by our commitment to bring the best products, services and value to our customers, and continuous innovation plays a major role in delivering on that promise.”

Apart from Reliance Jio, other global companies such as Apple, Netflix, Tencent, Amazon, Spotify, and many others are on the list. For the unaware, Fast Company releases a list of top 50 innovative companies every year, and the list will be curated from Fast Company’s Top 10 lists, which recognise pioneering companies across 36 categories, from artificial intelligence to wellness.

“More than three dozen Fast Company editors, reporters, and contributors surveyed thousands of companies—many of which were identified by a new MIC submission process—to create these lists,” added the statement.

Cupertino giant, Apple secured top spot, followed by Netflix, Square, Tencent, Amazon, and others. And Reliance Jio is rated for putting India on the fast track in terms of data consumption. Elon Musk’s Space X and maps application Waze are present on the list too.

wonder what Jio is planning or from where will they get spectrum to offer 4.5 TB data.

Even a single recharge of 9999 will give 1.5 TB which is isane.

With 2GB per day plans there speeds are already low and in peak time(6 to 10 pm) nothing works except browsing

No idea, but I haven’t used this sim for a year now.

“As per your request…” ?

February 21, 2018 7:58 am 7:58 AM

Nope. I didn’t send any request. That sim is lying dormant for almost a year now.

February 21, 2018 7:10 am 7:10 AM

@GEEK, reality is he Gowda requested to cancel the connection, marketing is ‘Finally Jio is cancelling all non recharged connections’ as if it is doing without his request. That is this F for us.

February 21, 2018 12:21 pm 12:21 PM

Reality is Gowda didn’t request it to be deactivated. Gowda had just kept it aside without using it. They have sent a standard email or something and might just be starting to deactivate connections. They will update this message to others as time goes by since that’s what everyone else does in every sector.

As consumers POV its great Jio came and save thousands of rupees of us consumers which were looted before on the name of 300rs per GB data, rate cutter, sms cutter & VAS. One nation One Plan : Jio 4G. And the money Jio saved us just calculate it.

You forgot about the tens of thousands of people employed by Jio directly and indirectly who wouldn’t have any jobs without JIO.

They just have build their Team by luring the employees of Incumbents. So the workforce which is a bit inefficient and the Incumbents were having them for years are facing the Sword. Jio would never accept them. So saying Jio is the Saver and giving out Jobs is an odd one. Seriously People are going so low to Praise their Beloved Companies that they’re giving Custom made Facts.

February 21, 2018 8:04 pm 8:04 PM

Hmm. I wonder if anyone actually did a detailed analysis of jobs created by Jio vis a vis jobs offloaded by others. I think maybe on a net level Jio did create a few thousand jobs.

So you think the lakhs of kms of fiber lines and towers and engineers just came out of thin air? Interesting how low people go to kick Jio. I don’t even get the good coverage or speeds of Jio and even I can see the reality.

If you can see the Reality, I’ve nothing to say anything more to you. Moreover, I’m talking of Post Jio Launch. You’re talking of Pre Jio Launch.

You don’t have a proper logic to back up your statement and keep on blabbering.

Post Mans aren’t Unemployed. What are you talking about? Still Postmans are toiling Hard throughout the Day delivering your stuff and after spurt of E-Commerce they have been the most busy one. All my Amazon & Flipkart Parcels are always delivered by India Post.

Just to Prove Jio’s Onslaught Correct stop going so low.

I hope you have the answer to Your Question. Moreover, I would like to add that my Parcels from Myntra, Jabong & LimeRoad are delivered by ECom Express, Delhivery & Bluedart. Have their offices right at the each Corner of the Road my Home is. But the ECommerce Giants choose India Post. Don’t know why?

February 26, 2018 11:02 am 11:02 AM

Because bluedart and delhivery sometimes have high delivery charges for delivery to your states, India post works out cheaper and is reliable too.

February 21, 2018 12:26 pm 12:26 PM

LOL. This guy forgot about the tons of postmen having no mails to deliver right now. Just cuz a postman delivers 5-10 posts a day doesn’t mean we have forgotten the days when they used to deliver thousands of posts a day.

February 21, 2018 8:14 am 8:14 AM

Good reply. dmk what you were doing? He just cares about himself. He lost his job. So he doesn’t care if 100 people got job when he lost his job. He thinks only about himself.

February 21, 2018 7:03 am 7:03 AM

As if post offices are shutdown today. Post something that makes sense.

I said overall scenario of post man unemployment due to introduction of new technology in a sector. Dont take facts into considerations here. Just for example i said this thing. U guys know what I am trying to say here…..

What i meant is, If some technology is introduced, there would be some jobs lost and some jobs created. It is natural.

We cannot and should not worry about the jobs being lost, Instead people should try to adapt to the changing dynamics of the job market.

Priyansh Singh
February 21, 2018 11:01 pm 11:01 PM

To earn something you should be willing to lose something. But if the lone bread earner looses the job, how would the family cope up? Consider this as well. Very Hard to imagine. Jobs being trimmed is a state to Worry.

PS: We understood your feelings & what you were trying to say.
