State-run telecom operator, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has made some new changes to its popular broadband plan- the BB249. To recall, BSNL launched the BB249 broadband plan last year as a promotional offer for three months, but with increasing popularity, the operator kept extending the validity period of the plan.
In June 2017, we reported that BSNL extended the BB249 plan validity for three months up to September 30, 2017. And now, the company has extended the validity by another three months, meaning the plan will now expire on December 31, 2017.
Along with the increase in the validity, BSNL also made a new change to the BB249 plan. Earlier, the BB249 plan used to offer high-speed 2 Mbps data up to 1GB, and after that, the speed will be reduced to 1 Mbps without any cap for the rest of the month.
BSNL has increased the FUP data limit to 5GB now, meaning, users can enjoy 2 Mbps data speeds up to 5GB, and after the completion of 5GB, the speed will be reduced to 1 Mbps, as usual. This is a welcome move from BSNL, and it will help the company attract more customers.
Earlier, customers whoever used to opt for the plan used to get migrated to BSNL BBG Combo ULD 499 after six months. The same continues now as well. But there's a slight change. BSNL will now migrate the users to BBG Combo ULD 499 plan after one year, instead of earlier six months period. That said, you can't opt this plan for more than one year like other BSNL broadband plans.
Along with the 5GB data, BSNL customers on the BB249 plan can also make free voice calls to any network in India between 9 PM to 7 AM on weekdays and Sundays; there’s no time limitation.
Furthermore, for new connections, BSNL is waiving off installation charges, which is a recent move introduced by customers to attract the customers. BSNL said that the plan is valid from October 1, 2017, to December 31, 2017, across the country, except Jammu & Kashmir and Andaman Nicobar circles.
Lastly, BSNL is the leading wired broadband leader in India with a market share of 59.63% as of June 2017. This news was revealed by Trai recently. BSNL, as of June 2017 has 12.92 million subscribers under its belt, leading the market by a huge margin.
