Do you remember the Xiaomi Redmi Pro which was launched last year touting as the company's first smartphone to pack dual rear camera setup? If yes, this news will cheer you up. The Xiaomi Redmi Pro might get a successor in the Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 by the end of this month, according to various reports coming from Chinese media.
It is already a known fact that Xiaomi is working on their next generation flagship phone, the Xiaomi Mi 6, which is scheduled to release to next month. Meanwhile, to bridge the gap, Xiaomi is planning to announce the Redmi Pro 2 in next two weeks.
At the same time, the specifications and pricing of the phone also been leaked online. The Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 might feature the same 5.5-inch Full HD OLED display with a 2.5D curved glass on top as its predecessor. The phone is tipped to come in two variants- one with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage and the other one with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
At the heart of the phone, we might see a new Snapdragon 660 chipset along with a single 12MP camera sensor, which is quite unusual when compared the phone with Redmi Pro, which came out with dual camera setup. Nonetheless, there are some rumors as well claiming that Xiaomi might use the MediaTek Helio P25 and the chipset has the capability to handle the dual camera setup. Also, there are some possibilities that Xiaomi will use the Snapdragon 660 SoC to power the 4GB of RAM variant and MediaTek P25 SoC in the 6GB of RAM option, much like what they did with the last year's Xiaomi Redmi Pro. But again, these are just speculations, so take them with a grain of salt.
Other rumoured specs of the phone include a beefy 4500mAh battery and unimetal body design. We presume that Xiaomi might not boot the device with Android Nougat based MIUI out-of-the-box as the OS is still under beta testing.
Aforesaid, the pricing of the Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 also have leaked online. The 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage variant might cost 1599 Yuan (approx. Rs. 15,277), and the 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage version might set you back by 1799 Yuan (approx. Rs. 17, 195). Do make a note that this phone might not make its way to India, same as its predecessor.
