BSNL has emerged as the fifth largest operator in the country

State-run telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) said that it has achieved a monthly growth rate of 1.48% beating all major private operators in the month of June this year. It has also surpassed all major private operators in net addition of new customers in the same month to become the fifth largest mobile operator, as per data from Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).

As per the latest report, BSNL added more than 13.03 lakh new mobile customers and thereby increasing its market share from 8.54% to 8.65%. The telco said that its performance in wireless subscriber addition and monthly growth rate is continuously increasing from July 2015 onwards - after the launch of free pan-India roaming scheme.
“We are thankful to our esteemed customers for reposing faith in us. We are committed to provide the best services to our customers,” Director (CM) BSNL board, R.K. Mittal said in a statement.

The state-run telecom operator also claimed that it has been getting mobile number portability (MNP) positive in last financial year and is maintaining the same in this financial year with MNP PORT IN request more than 0.25 million per month since April, 2016.

Over the last few quarters, the telecom operator has taken some bold initiatives by introducing STV-1099 which is truly unlimited data plan with no speed restriction as well as STV 549 with 10 GB data and STV 156 with 2GB data.
These plans are most competitive in industry, BSNL claimed.

BSNL in August launched unlimited free calling from BSNL landline to any network’s mobile and landline on all Sundays, a move aimed at acquiring new landline customers and motivate existing customers to use increase their landline usage. The offer is available at pan-India level.

The unlimited free calling scheme on all Sundays is in addition to free night calling to all networks already being offered from 9PM to 7AM
