The Chinese smartphone maker Oppo has announced on Twitter that it’ll launch a successor to F1 on 3 August. Similar to other smartphones in F-series, the new Oppo F1s will focus on its camera performance.

If to recap, Oppo F-series was first launched in CES 2016 focusing on its camera function. Launched in January, Oppo F1 featured a 5-inch display of HD resolution, powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 SoC with 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM. It also sported a 13MP rear camera and 8MP front-facing selfie snapper. The front camera came with a wider f/2.0 aperture (1/ 4-inch sensor) and image enhancing features such as Beautify 3.0, 8 live color filters, and more. The dual-SIM phone runs on ColorOS 2.1 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop and was priced at Rs. 15, 990.

Soon after launching Oppo F1, the company also launched another successor named F1 Plus in April at a cost of Rs. 26,990. The front camera of F1 Plus was a whopping 16MP with f/2.0 aperture. The newly announced Oppo F1s is expected to be built on the strengths of the F1. The product will be one of Oppo’s prime product for the year. Although there are no specifications announced for F1s, there is a possibility that the company will bring its Super VOOC charging feature on the new smartphone.

At the MWC 2016, Oppo demonstrated its Super VOOC charging feature. It comes with a new low-voltage pulse-charge algorithm that provides 45% charge in less than five minutes. This also means it offers a full charge in 15 minutes. In 15 minutes, VOOC Flash Charge can bring a 2500mAh battery equipped OPPO smartphone to a full charge, claimed Oppo at MWC.

“The VOOC charging voltage is in line with the standard smartphone charging voltage of 5V. This means that the power can be directly transmitted to the battery without any voltage conversion, allowing the process to attain a charging efficiency of up to 97%.,” the company explained in a press statement released earlier.
