Yesterday, Samsung rolled out an update for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge that has enhanced fingerprint sensing, however both the devices are still running the Android version 5.0.2. Many users are still awaiting the Lollipop 5.1 update and if the sources are to be believed, Samsung is most likely to release the 5.1 update to the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge tentatively sometime next month.
As per Rogers, the Canadian carrier, the 5.1 Lollipop update might be rolled out sometime in June 2015. However, it is just an assumed time frame, the roll out might take more time than expected in case any issue surfaces in the development.
Generally carrier variants have to wait for the update tad longer than the generic versions of the device. Having said that, we can assume that the stipulated time frame is somewhat accurate and most users might get the Android 5.1 Lollipop on their S6 and S6 Edge by June.
The Android 5.1 update is not a prime update, however it is pretty essential for the device as it fixes bugs and enhances device performance. The 5.1 update for the S6 and S6 Edge is rumored to mend the Wi-Fi and memory leak issues. It might also bring along the Guest mode feature to the devices and also the camera RAW support alongside many other features.
As of now, Samsung has not let out any confirmation about the roll out of Android 5.1 update for the aforementioned devices. Also, there is no information regarding when the update will reach Indian shores. Stay tuned with us to know more about its availability.
