The entry-level budget smartphone segment in the country is the most crowded one as it brings in majority of the volumes for OEMs. There are still a wide range of people in the country who are still making the jump from feature phones to smartphones. Lava has just introduced the Iris X1 Atom smartphone in the country to cater to the first-time smartphone buyers with a price tag of Rs. 4,444.

The smartphone comes with a 4-inch IPS LCD display along with a premium design philosophy of the Iris series on a budget. It gets a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 512MB of RAM, and 4GB of storage.

There’s a 5-megapixel rear camera with a LED flash and a PureCel sensor at the rear. It is a dual-SIM device, like majority of the budget smartphones, and runs Android 4.4 KitKat. However, the company has announced that the device will be upgraded to Android 5.0 Lollipop in the future.

The Lava Iris X1 Atom will go on sale in the country by next week through offline as well as online retail portals.
