YU has been riding high on the success of its YUREKA smartphone, thanks to its value-for-money price tag. It began teasing the next smartphone in its lineup with the codename 'Project Caesar' a while ago. It was followed up by a contest wherein the company crowd-sourced five different names.

YU-YUPHORIA

They were: YUPHORIA, YUKNIGHT, YUNICORN, YUNITY, and YOUTH. The five names made it to the voting which took place between 4th and 6th April. And the name that got the most votes was YUPHORIA which will be the name of the next smartphone from YU whose launch is due soon. As per YU, the name represents zeal, enthusiasm and passion which in turn are what YU stands for. As it announced earlier, five lucky winners who voted for the name will get a YU device.

The YUPHORIA will be powered by a 64-bit Snapdragon 410 processor, and in all likelihood, will be mated to 2GB of RAM. It will get 16GB of internal storage, and will be going up against the likes of Redmi 2 and Lenovo A1000. YU has been teasing it while taking a dig at Xiaomi as it compared the specs of Redmi 2 with the upcoming smartphone. It will run Android 5.0 Lollipop-based CM12S ROM.

The smartphone will be slotted into the Rs. 6,000-7,000 price bracket. It will also be sold through the popular flash sales model through its e-commerce partner, Amazon.in.
