HTC, the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer, is busy strengthening its entry- and mid-level smartphones to improve its sales and profits. It has  just launched the HTC Desire 626G+ in India for Rs. 16,900, which is a variation of the Desire 626 that was released in Taiwan back in February.

The device comes with a decent set of specifications, but the RAM. It has a 5-inch HD IPS LCD display, which is joined in a 1.7 GHz octa-core processor from MediaTek, but just 1GB of RAM. It runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat with Sense UI on top of it, and a 2,000 mAh battery. We are surprised to see that it is priced at Rs. 16,990 (~ $281) in India even though it was priced at Rs. 11,400 (~ $190) in Taiwan.

HTC Desire 626G+ Specifications

  • 5-inch IPS LCD display, 1280 x 720 pixels, 294 ppi
  • Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system with Sense UI
  • MediaTek MT6752 processor, 1.7 GHz octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU, and 1GB RAM
  • 8GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot (up to 32GB)
  • 13-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash, and 1080p video recording; 5-megapixel front camera with a BSI sensor
  • Dual-SIM, 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS with a-GPS, Micro-USB port, and 3.5 mm headphone jack
  • 2,000 mAh battery

It comes off as a decent device for the price, but the deal would have been a lot sweeter if the device came with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Nevertheless, HTC is trying to take on the likes of Xiaomi, YU, and Lenovo with the device. It will be available in Blue Lagoon and White Birch colours.
