YU starts teasing its upcoming ‘Project Caesar; smartphone, mocks Xiaomi

YU Televentures, the subsidiary brand from Micromax, announced its entry into the crowded smartphone space with the launch of extremely value-for-money Yureka. The device managed to break the clutter and stand apart from the rest. It looks like the Yureka is about to get a stable mate and YU has started teasing it already. However, it has taken mockery as the choice of announcement, as the joke is on Xiaomi now.

YU is planning to launch a new smartphone in April which is codenamed as 'Project Caesar'. It has just released a teaser about the device and has stated that it will run Android Lollipop-based Cyanogen 12 OS. The picture that was posted on social media teasing the device had “KitKat in the age of Lolipop? Give Me a break!” written on it and the “M” in Me was the one we see in Xiaomi’s logo.

This is because Xiaomi recently launched Mi Pad and Redmi 2 in India and both of them run on Android 4.4 KitKat based MIUI . YU certainly knows what to mock as software updates haven't been Xiaomi's forte and all its devices still run on Android 4.4 KitKat.

As far as the specifications are concerned, YU has done pretty well to keep them under the wraps as of now and nothing is known other than the choice of the operating system. It is expected to be sold exclusively through Amazon.in via the flash sales model which has become quite popular off late. Whether the upcoming device gets slotted above or below the Yureka is also something that remains to be seen.
