ICICI Bank has launched a one-of-a-kind banking app, named ‘Pockets’. It is a digital banking service, which enables users to instantly send or request money to any mobile number, e-mail ID, friends on Facebook and bank account.

The Bank said in a statement, ”Everyone, even those who are not ICICI Bank account holders can download the mobile wallet app from the Google Play store and can fund it from any bank around the nation and start transacting immediately.”

This wallet uses a virtual Visa card, which allows users to do transactions on any website or mobile application in India. ICICI Bank also explained that customers can request for a physical card to use at any retail outlet.

With the Pockets app, users can easily recharge their mobiles, book movie tickets, pay bills, send gifts and split expenses with friends. The users will also be able to include friends to ‘Favorites list' which will help them in sending and requesting money from them, or to recharge friend’s mobile plans or sending them gifts.

Users can choose to include a zero-balance savings account to their wallet, which will reap them interest on their idle money. The app also provides personalisation options, such as to choose colour themes or card images.

The two features to be launched within the app are universal wallet and the savings account. The app also includes Special deals, and in case of any query or problem, users can easily contact the customer care with the built-in-support chat feature in the app.

Commenting on the launch, Chanda Kochhar, Managing Director & CEO, ICICI Bank said, "Today's youth wants everything instantly, on the go. 'Pockets' addresses this need by allowing anyone to open an account on their mobile phone in an instant and start transacting immediately. We believe that Pockets will help shape the future of digital payments in the country. We, at ICICI Bank, will continue to focus on innovations in technology to offer unique propositions that are simple, fast and convenient.” She said.
