Bharti Airtel has launched Far-East Connect Network, a consortium submarine cable system that opens up direct connectivity between Singapore and the US via the Asia America Gateway (AAG) cable.
The company is a consortium partner for this 20,000 route km cable system that is now ready to carry commercial traffic. This together with a capacity upgrade by Airtel on its existing network assets on multiple cable routes, has made available an additional 1 Terabit per second of capacity to the region, the company said in a statement.
This cable system will link major cable landing stations in India, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and across the Pacific to the United States.
This would now enable Bharti Airtel to extend its reach to Australia, Brunei, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, United States and Vietnam.
The network also provides connectivity between major telecom hubs in Hong Kong, India, Japan and Singapore. It provides onward connectivity to China, Japan, Taiwan, Australia and South Korea through new capacity partnerships on diverse routes.
