The iOS 8 update for Apple's devices hasn't had the journey it would have expected. The latest iteration of iOS was bogged down by several bugs which were then sorted out by Apple in the consequent updates.

In a bid to constantly improve the user experience, Apple has just released the iOS 8.1.3 software update for iPhones (iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5S, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus), iPod Touch (fifth-generation only) and iPads (iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad mini, iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad mini 2 and iPad mini 3).

iOS 8 update

The update does not bring any major updates with it but what it does bring is minor bug fixes and performance updates, on the whole. But what is most appealing about the update is that it brings the functionality of reducing the free storage that is required to download an update and install it. Users of 8GB models of iPhones will appreciate it the most as they often have to delete some data whenever they wish to update their devices.

It has improved the multitasking ability of the iPads. The missing app results issue on Spotlight search has now been addressed by Apple. Some users were facing issues with the Apple ID passwords earlier and the same has now been sorted out. The adoption rate of iOS has been a bit slow due to the slew of bugs it brings to the table with it. But Apple has released quite a few updates to take care of those and the iOS 8.1.3 is expected to further increase the adoption rate.

The update is available as an OTA and you can download it by going to the Software Update tab under Settings.
