Images and specifications of the BlackBerry Rio leaked, comes with a 5-inch touchscreen

BlackBerry has been constantly making attempts at gain back its presence in the ultra-competitive smartphone market. This year, it launched the BlackBerry Z3, the BlackBerry Passport, and the BlackBerry Classic. Now, it is working on a new mid-range smartphone, which unlike the BlackBerry Classic, will lack physical QWERTY keyboard and rely completely on touchscreen. The smartphone has been code-named 'Rio' and the folks over at N4BB have images and the specifications of the device.

The device resembles the BlackBerry Z3, but there is no information on whether the Rio is actually the Z3's successor. As far as the design of the device is concerned, the placement of the button and the changes at the rear are the only differences you will find.

It features a 5-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, resulting into a pixel density of 294 ppi. Under the hood, it is equipped with a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor coupled with 2GB RAM. There is 16GB of internal storage, which can be expanded further using a microSD card slot. At the back, the device sports an 8-megapixel camera, while a 2-megapixel camera is present on the front.

There’s a 2,800 mAh battery giving it the juice to run and the device will come with LTE support too in addition to the regular connectivity features. It will cost less than $300 which translates into a sub-Rs 20,000 device.
