BlackBerry Passport launched in India for Rs. 49,990

As we reported earlier, BlackBerry has formally announced its latest flagship smartphone, the BlackBerry Passport, in India today at a price of Rs, 49,990. The handset was unveiled to the world by the company last week and it created quite a buzz due to its squarish design. The smartphone will only be available on Amazon.in via pre-booking and exclusive BlackBerry outlets from 29th September to 10th October. On pre-booking via Amazon India, customers will also receive Rs 5,000 worth of gift voucher which will be redeemable on future purchases on Amazon.

"The BlackBerry Passport takes our iconic keyboard to the next level. The physical keyboard gives you more typing accuracy and leaves you more screen space for viewing. It is also touch-enabled, so you can perform many functions right on the keyboard. It's responsive to touch so you can scroll web pages, flick to type or slide along the keys to move the cursor. Only BlackBerry can take a perfectly crafted keyboard and make it better" explained BlackBerry on its official website and the product page.

BlackBerry has already managed to sell over 200,000 units worldwide and looks like a decent launch from BlackBerry in the recent past. The Passport's success in India also depends upon its pricing which is expected to be somewhere around Rs. 49,990. Do you think it is a fair pricing for this product?
