Off late, there has been a new trend of brands releasing tablets with screen sizes larger than 10 inches, which are focussed towards productivity. Microsoft came up with the Surface Pro 3 and Samsung released the Galaxy Tab Pro with a 12.2-inch screen. There have been rumours that Apple might launch a 12.9-inch variant of the iPad, dubbed as the iPad Pro. Well, the competitors are not sitting idle either.

According to a new report from DigiTimes, Sony is readying a 12.9-inch Xperia Tablet to compete with the anticipated Apple iPad Pro. The device is said to be heading for mass production shortly and might be released in the first half of 2015.

Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet

This tablet from Sony is said to have a 16:9 display with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels and a thickness of just 8.6mm. It might be powered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and might be priced around an expensive Rs. 63,000 (~ $1000) mark. As with any rumour, you should take this report with a pinch of salt till Sony actually announces such a tablet.
