Reliance Jio Infocomm has signed a pact with the Government owned BSNL allowing them to lease out 4000 mobile towers. BSNL will be charging flat Rs 38,000 per month for a Ground based Tower. The charges for the roof based tower will be Rs 24,900. Additionally it is also said that BSNL is ready to toss in some discounts if RJIL commits to leasing a bulk of 1500 towers.

BSNL Director for Mobility Anupam, Shrivastava told PTI that “The rent for ground towers will be Rs 35,000 per month and Rs 21,000 per month for rooftop towers if Reliance Jio commits leasing of 1,500 towers in the first year,” BSNL further made the deal sweeter by saying that it will also give a flat 5% discount if RJIL agrees to lease at least 1000 towers within the coming three months.

RJIL didn’t issue any notice in this regard and we feel that it is still working out on the deal. RJIL has a pan India License that can be used for deploying 4G services across India. Infact RJIL is one of the first telecom operator in India to get hold of unified license in all the 22 circles. This deal will come as a breather for BSNL which is currently reeling under losses and heavy operating costs.
