SMS banJammu and Kashmir has always been that part of the nation which has had to bear the brunt of the political tensions. As a result, the masses have surely struggled and not to mention the fact that there are a lot of telecom restrictions too in the state. Today we have a piece of new that comes as welcome news for the masses of Jammu and Kashmir.

The ban on the SMS services for pre-paid customers has just been lifted which is almost 4 years after the ban for the post-paid customers was lifted. Now users with pre-paid connections can make use of the SMS service without any issues whatsoever.

This, however, will be subject to certain restrictions. The restrictions that have been mentioned read as follows:

Bulk messages generated from various internet portals, Short Message Peer to Peer (SMPP) clients of various Telecom Service Providers should be disallowed in J&K State by all licenced telecom service providers including their franchisees in all their Short Messaging Centres across the country

This can be done by disallowing SMS to all providers/ LRNs of operators in J&K to all SMPP Ports for commercial use of sending bulk SMS. Further, no commercial bulk messages should be allowed to originate from/terminate in J&K State.

Talking about what it means for the consumers, you will be able to send and receive messages from your loved ones without any issues and the marketers won’t be able to disturb you either.
