Gionee Elife E6 vs Micromax Canvas Turbo: Similar yet different

Follow Us

Micromax and Gionee are two well known mobile phone manufacturers. While Gionee is grand in the Chinese market, Micromax is second in lead in the Indian market. Both the makers have recently launched their new smartphones, Gionee’s Elife E6 and Micromax’s Canvas Turbo which offer somewhat similar specifications at a similar price point.

Let us have a comparative look at these two smartphones

Display: Both the devices feature a capacitive IPS touch display of 5 inches with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution and a pixel density of 441 ppi. Unlike Canvas Turbo, Elife E6 comes with a scratch resistant screen. The Gionee offering has a better build quality and will be protected against those occasional scratches.

Processor: Both, Elife E6 and Canvas Turbo, have been powered by Mediatek MT6589T quad-core core processor clocked at 1.5 Giga Hertz. So this is even.

Operating System: Both the smartphones function on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean platform. Both the devices at the maximum will be upgraded to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean so neither of them has an advantage over the other one.

Camera: Elife E6 as well as Canvas Turbo feature a primary camera of 13 megapixels with LED flash and BSI sensor. They also carry a secondary camera of 5 megapixels for making video calls. Again both of them are even as the quality of the cameras are pretty similar to each other.

Memory: Both the devices feature a RAM of 2 GB. Elife E6 offers an internal storage of 32 GB while the Canvas Turbo provides 16 GB internal storage capacity. Both the smartphones do not feature memory card slot for expandable storage. Since there’s no memory card expansion, the one with the more internal storage capacity wins.

Connectivity Features: The connectivity features incorporated in both the devices are 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth4.0 and A-GPS.

Other Features: Elife E6 is a single SIM device where as Canvas Turbo comes with Dual SIM feature. Both the devices feature FM Radio, compass, gyroscope, accelerometer and proximity sensor.

Battery: Elife E6 as well as Canvas Turbo run on a battery of 2000 mAh.

Price: Gionee Elife E6 is available at the price of Rs. 22,000 while one can avail the Canvas Turbo for Rs. 19,990.

Our Take: The Gionee Elife E6 and Micromax Canvas Turbo are similar in almost all the features. However, I’ll prefer the Gionee Elife E6 for the simple reason that it offers a way better build quality, a larger internal storage and the company manufactures its own smartphones rather than outsourcing them like Micromax. We would love to hear from your side regarding the two devices. Do remember to drop in with your comments regarding the same.
