Interview With S.N.Rai Co Founder & Director Lava Mobile

Lava International Limited the newest entrant, rings in success within a short span of a year with its undiluted focus in a market that is full of me- too’s.

Its doing wonders in the Indian handset arena, with the brand tag “Get the Power in Your Hand” as company has been able to provide power to the customers in their hands.

Telecom Talk goes behind the scenes to bring you this exclusive interview with S.N.Rai Co Founder & Director Lava Mobile who shares his views about the upcoming models and IMEI issue faced by low-cost handset makers in India.

TT: How has Lava Mobile changed since its launch?

S.N.Rai :Well when we entered the mobile industry we came up with 3 handsets, i.e., KKT – 1, KKT – 11 & KKT – 22. these are the handsets which we launched targeting rural instincts, catering to their needs as it has features like torch, along with battery back up of 30 days, dual sim, radio at competitive prices. But as of now, after strong R&D, LAVA has changed a lot as we have come up with our high tech savvy handset, i.e., A9.

This was something about technology but if I talk about our journey as of now, I can say that we have got more than our goals, i.e, we got very good response from the market and LAVA is in real demand.

TT : Lots of talks was going on regarding fake IMEI  what steps has Lava mobile taken to ensure its customers with Genuine IMEI ?

S.N.Rai :Yes lots of talks were going on regarding this issue past days as a mobile handset with no IMEI or invalid IMEI number could be a threat against national security. This is because a mobile without a valid IMEI number is difficult to trace, which means criminal groups can use such handsets to evade detection. That’s why handsets with an invalid or no IMEI number would not work on any network.

LAVA’s each handset is IMEI number enabled as it was in the interest of national security but to ensure the same to our customers one can just dial *#06# and can get their IMEI no. on their mobiles.

TT: Some dual sim phones supports multitouch displays while others don’t can you give us a sense of whether your devices will have touch features in future?

S.N.Rai : Yes there are handsets which support multitouch displays and others doesn’t as each and every company has something unique to present and have there strong points. Yes of course in coming time we will also come with touch screens as we have to do the parallel journey with our tech savvy market where this is in high demand. We have made a move with our luxurious range that A9. Now we will come up with functionality rich handsets which will definitely woo our Indian customers.

TT : Can we expect a 3G and WIFI version of Lava mobile in future?

S.N.Rai : Yes of course as we have to fulfill each and every market trend. we are making LAVA mobiles software enabled like A9 has mini opera, nimbus, JAVA. So we can expect much better too as we want to provide our customers the best whether its in quality or technology.

TT : Is there any story behind the Lava name?

S.N.Rai : Yes there is a story as LAVA is a Hindi word which in English means to come up with a power and that we proved with LAVA Mobiles – Power in your hands & Power to attract. And the story you can say that LAVA is a molten rock that expels out from volcano during eruption and at the time of that eruption it comes out with a great power. The power with which that LAVA comes out denotes our vision (to make it a power that would rule in everyone’s hands). That is the story behind LAVA – POWER to attract!

TT : Which mobile handset do you use? Don’t say its LAVA!

S.N.Rai:Yes ofcourse its LAVA and not even i am the only one, my whole organistion is using LAVA handsets. if we are coming up with the power and providing it to customers then y cant we take that power in our own hands!

    Dear Xolo Team,

    I am Chetan Boda, I have Bought Xolo A500S IPS in Last week of Jan 2014 and start getting problem in it with in 3 Month of Purchase, one day suddenly my Phone got switched off and whenever I try to start it shows XOLO on screen and get switched off.

    I have given my Xolo A500s IPS to your service Centre ( Marco Mobile – Vile Parle ) on 14.05.2014 for repair and I visited lot of time to your service centre but whenever I visit I get response it will get repaired within Next 10 – 15 Days and Now almost 2 Months are passed and I have still not received my Handset back.

    in last week of June your service Centre has informed me I will get new handset with upgraded Model with in next 8- 10 Days but still I have not received the same.

    I am facing problem from long time, Request you to kindly help with me update on my Handset, which Upgraded Handset I will Get and when I will get it.

    Please also Inform me about my warrantee period and from last 2 months I am not able to use my handset and it getting out dated.

    Hi ,

    I have an issue with my Lava Iris 405 which i bought 5 months back. So soon i am facing the touch screen and sensor problem.I have already taken the phone to Service centre(they had taken 10 days which has already expired) still i didnt received the handset. Moreover they won’t respond to our calls instead they directly disconnects the call. Their helpline line is of no use , it is always busy. So please resolve my issue soon.

    I am mentioning the Service Centre name so please take the corrective actions on same.

    hi guys,,,
    m too here to discuss ma problem with you guys. this is just a ridiculous lava brand. recently i have purchased lava iris 349s, which was nothing but juss a fake one..soon the screen start blinking and front speaker creates problem during phone calls and even sometimes the keyboard disappeard, i don”t know where it goes!!! wht to say … you guys won’t believe me earpiece too gone crazy… what the hell should i do now…. i hope instead of this sloth i would ve micromax… tough luck lava

    3rd class services after sale
    Dear Sir,

    I am Purchase lava ARC8C Hand set on dated 06.06.2013 after two month there is a charging problem i have go to services center at kalkaji Delhi they repair the phone after 3 days there is same problem again i have go to services center at kalkaji Delhi they repair the phone after 3 days there is same problem again i have go to services center at kalka ji they told me they will send the phone to company and it will take 3 to 4 days.

    Now after 16 days i am in services center and still have not received the phone because the phone which they are trying to deliver to me have same problem and they are not ready to give any specific answer and ready to deposit again and again it will take 15- to 16 days. now please tell me what to do, is this kind of after sale service is given by lava company. i think i have done the very big mistake to purchase the lava mobile.

    Now i will not take this old phone i want replacement because this is by business phone and suffering by business Please Resolve my problem its very seamless your poor services also ur mobile lava

    Xolo is not a brand . Xolo handsets are sub standared . they hardly last for month . in my case xolo q 1000 went dead in one month 19 days . they are under powered . hangs frequently . gives problems with ear phone connector . have low volumes . company don’t give often software updates . XOLO have worst after sales service . they are not at all customer oriented people . I am waiting since one month to get my handset back . they don’t respond to your sms , emails . their helpline line is of no use . its always busy and helpline don’t have information about your handset .company successfully creates propoganda by huge ad campingns and fake reviews over the the net but badly fails when it come to after sales service. In india they don’t have servicecenters even in big cities but they do hire middlemen terms as collection points where you have to submit your damage hanset . Company promises prespective customer many things such as door to door repairing service and service in five days but it badly fails . its mismanaged and fraud company because of which customer like me have to suffer . its just china handset wrapped in Indian cardboard. Its not at all worth for money rather you have to occur additional cost for litigation . I have already send them consumer court notice waiting for reply from their corporate office.

    I am using lava N320 Hand set Since 8 Months and its my first experience with lava mobile but this handset response is very bad. i had allready updated this handset software. but till time my hand set problem (hang) after disconnecting the phone calls…..Please Resolve my problem..

    This is fraud company.
    My phone’s “TP” damaged. Before sending my set, I had discussed with Customer care executive and officer of collection center. And they confirmed that I need to pay TP charges near about 1700/- only.

    After 20 days they says I need to pay 4700/-. (total cost is my phone 7500/-)
    Damage reason – Phone cover not available in market.

    very semless your poor services also ur mobile lava a16.i buy a16 & got problem after 15 days.problem found 1.speker not work 2.blutooth not work 3.background music not work 4.any time mobile track password asking 5.gprs not support. u can check my complaint at aurangabad service center.they are not solved to my problem & seller not take back.what do i do.if realy u want provide me best service pls take back ur mobile & pls return my money(Rs 3800.00) u can cut chargs if u want.pls repply me or call 09764538253

    Sir Mene 4 month pahle lava kkt -30 mobile liya tha one month use karne ke bad shayad motherboard me problem aa gaye to mene service centre per diya he pichle 3 month se koi proper jawab nahi de raha he – please guid What Do Me … ?

    sir mera shop bhiwandi (maharastra) me hai , mera yaha aapka salesman ka baiwhar sahi nahi hai , malhir tele media direct sale nahi karta hai wo kisi aur ke thrue sale karta hai , mera yaha lawa mobile ka sale kafhi acha hai lekin aapke yaha ka service sahi nahi hai .     I have taken new mobile befor some time and after 15 day’s my mobile have charging problem so give on service center but service center guy’s not prepared my mobile near 2 months and always say it done in 2 day’s. so i will go to take action on lava company service because due to this i have suffering lot of problem.

    Also request to other guy’s don’t purchase lava mobilebecause this companey service is veery poor.

    This is the worst mobile in india and u can not get the required service even in months. The service engineer do not even lift the phone nos. I am really amazed with such a poor customer service of this company.

    Very TRUE.. But they can’t say TRUE to all questions(to damage their image/posititon), especially in an interview by a telecom-savvy site.

    yup i have gone through tat site. i know branded companies use follw SAR standerds..wat i want is ppl should be aware of SAR since its a very important factor & life is very precious. companies like lava karbonn dont care for health impact on ppl tey just want to make money so i always inform regarding SAR wherever i feel tat its required

    lava phone some models hv good battery backup. my kkt22 phone works for 8-9 days without recharging. cant think of it in nokia. only sony or samsung boasts of some good batery backup.

    Lava mobiles are really good.Here in WB,response is very good.Fault ratio is also very low due to stringent qualiity check.Soon,Lava will replace Micromax and will become 3rd largest seller in India.

    Tarun u should have asked him regarding Specific absorption rate(SAR) of LAVA phones. i guess he would becom mumm if u had asked him “DO ur lava phones meet the european norms of Radiation emission standerds. & why dont u ppl reply to customers who ask abt tat?” :-)
