At an event in New Delhi, Chinese smartphone brand, Xiaomi, took wraps off the much-anticipated Redmi K20 series. The Redmi K20 series comes in two variants- the standard K20 and the flagship Redmi K20 Pro. The Redmi K20 is a mid-range smartphone taking on the phones priced below Rs 20,000, while the Redmi K20 Pro is a smartphone that takes on the OnePlus 7 and Asus 6Z which also ship with the same Snapdragon 855 chipset. The Redmi K20 Pro sports a unique design, offers triple rear cameras and also has a beefy 4000mAh battery. Last year’s Poco F1 had compromises in the design department, but that’s not the case with the Redmi K20 Pro as the phone is a complete value for money flagship smartphone on paper.

Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro: Specifications and Features

Like several other smartphones releasing these days, the Redmi K20 Pro also sports a glass back, but the gradient design on the handset is unique when compared to others. The phone weighs 191 grams because of the glass back. Also, there’s a pop-up selfie camera for those who’re wondering, so the screen-to-body ratio will be high on this device. On the display front, the Redmi K20 Pro rocks a 6.39-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED panel that also houses an in-display fingerprint scanner. It’s the first Xiaomi phone in India to ship with the in-display fingerprint sensor.

There’s no microSD card slot for storage expansion, but on the brighter side, the K20 Pro has a 3.5mm headphone jack. Xiaomi also confirmed that the Redmi K20 Pro has eight-layer cooling that keeps the device cool during intensive gaming sessions.

The Redmi K20 Pro sports three cameras on the back; A 48MP Sony IMX586 primary sensor works in tandem with a 13MP ultra-wide lens and 8MP telephoto lens. This camera setup is pretty much identical to the ones present on the OnePlus 7 Pro. On the front, there’s a pop-up selfie camera housing a 20MP shooter. Xiaomi will also be providing a software-based wide-angle mode.

Connectivity options on the K20 Pro include Dual 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and GLONASS. Lastly, the K20 Pro is backed by a 4000mAh battery with 27W fast charging support. Xiaomi says the Redmi K20 Pro charges from 0% to 58% in just 30 minutes and offers 10+ hours of battery life with just 15 minutes of charge. Both the phones ship with 18W charger inside the retail box.
