HMD Global has unveiled yet another entry-level Nokia smartphone, namely, the Nokia 2.3. Coming barely months after the launch of the Nokia 2.2, the Nokia 2.3 does not bring any major upgrades to the table. The Nokia 2.3 features sub-par hardware like Helio A22 SoC, 2GB of RAM, dual rear cameras, but the highlight of the phone is the 4000mAh battery which backs the entire package. The Nokia 2.2 featured a 3000mAh battery, but the company is back to basic with the Nokia 2.3 by adding a massive battery that is capable of delivering two-day battery life to the customers. Everyone expected HMD Global to launch the upper mid-range Nokia 8.2 smartphone yesterday at its major event in Cairo, but to everyone's surprise, the company introduced an entry-level phone.
Nokia 2.3: Specifications and Features
As mentioned above, the Nokia 2.3 features identical specifications as the Nokia 2.2, but there are some notable upgrades like the battery capacity. The Nokia 2.3 rocks a 6.2-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels, 19:9 aspect ratio and 2.5D curved glass. Under the hood, it has the MediaTek Helio A22 SoC, paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. There's a dedicated microSD card slot as well for storage expansion.
The Nokia 2.3 is a dual-SIM smartphone and it runs Android 9 Pie out of the box. HMD Global says the smartphone is Android 10 ready and it will also receive Android 11 update in the future.
As for the camera setup, the Nokia 2.3 has a primary 13MP shooter on the back which is paired with a 2MP secondary depth sensor. This is an upgrade from the Nokia 2.2 which featured just a single 13MP shooter. Frontal, the Nokia 2.3 packs a 5MP front-facing camera. The handset weighs 183 grams and measures 8.68mm thick. Connectivity options on the Nokia 2.3 include Dual 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.0 and micro USB port. Other features of the smartphone include 3.5mm headphone jack and FM Radio.
Lastly, the Nokia 2.3 comes backed with a 4000mAh battery along with HMD's two-day battery life promise. Nokia smartphones delivered pretty good battery life in the past even with 3500mAh capacity, so the Nokia 2.3 will also fall into the same league.
Nokia 2.3: Pricing and Colour Options
Moving onto the pricing, the Nokia 2.2 comes in a single variant with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, and it's priced at 109 Euros (approx. Rs 8,600). The pricing in on the higher side, but expect HMD Global to price it at Rs 6,999 in the Indian market. In other news, HMD Global recently revised the pricing of the Nokia 2.2 in India. The Nokia 2.2 is currently retailing for Rs 5,999 in the country, clearing indicating the launch of the Nokia 2.3 in India. The newly launched phone comes in three colour options- Cyan Green, Sand and Charcoal.
Nokia 2.3 Competitors When it Reaches India
The Nokia 2.3 will face tough competition from several phones in the Indian market. Firstly, the Xiaomi Redmi 8A which is a way better smartphone than the Nokia 2.3 in almost every aspect like display protection, processor, more RAM & storage, better camera setup on paper, fast charging support and a bigger battery. The Realme C2 also falls on similar lines as it sports better processor and design compared to the Nokia 2.3.
The Infinix Hot 8 is also a decent smartphone at Rs 6,999 as it offers 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, 5000mAh battery and MediaTek Helio P22 SoC.
