HFCL Limited has launched two new unlicensed band radios (UBR) on the opening day of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2024. The newly launched 4G aand 5G backhauling solutions were unveiled by union telecom minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. The two new UBR solutions include the following: 1) 1 Gbps Small Form Factor 4G/5G Backhauling Radio offering unprecedented spectral and radio efficiency, and 2) Energy efficient 2 Gbps Point-to-Multipoint Rural connectivity UBR.




The second product in this list is ideal for providing connectivity in rural areas, explained HFCL. "The 2 Gbps UBR is ideal for providing connectivity in remote villages from a Gram Panchayat in point-to- multipoint scenario, allowing simultaneous delivery of high-bandwidth to multiple villages from a single fibre-PoP," the company said.

Whereas the 1 Gbps Small Form Factor 4G/5G backhauling radio is good for deployment in both rural and urban envrionments. It is packed with advanced features such as bandwidth aggregation, low latency, minimized jitter, and long range etc.

These new UBRs can reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) to just one-tenth of that of the conventional microwave or E-band backhaul solutions. The company further said that the Rural connectivity solutions consume less than one-third of the power required by typical microwave or E-band solutions.
