In an attempt to provide greater benefits to mobile users of Assam and North East telecom circles as well as In-Roamers in North East India, The Department of Telecommunication (DoT) has asked Mobile Service operators (CMTS/UAS) to lift the ban on Prepaid Roaming Service in Assam and North East.
Now prepaid mobile subscribers of North East including Assam, Arunachal Pradesh Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Nagaland and Mizoram can Roam all across India except in Jammu & Kashmir circle.
According to DoT circular No. 800-14/2011-VAS, the Prepaid mobile subscribers from other circles across India (except J&K) also can enjoy seamless Roaming in Assam & NE telecom circles.
Earlier the prepaid mobile service users of other telecom circles of India are not allowed Roaming facilities while visiting seven North Eastern states including Assam, Arunachal Pradesh Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Nagaland and Mizoram due to security reasons.
