BSNL Starts Providing 500MB Extra Daily Data With Rs 151 Prepaid Plan

BSNL has revised its popular Abhinandan-151 plan that was introduced only a few weeks ago. BSNL Rs 151 prepaid recharge now ships with extra 500MB daily data taking the overall data benefit to 1.5GB data per day for a period of 24 days. Earlier, the state-run telco offered 1GB data per day with the same plan, but now, it has increased the data benefit by 50%. That said, the Rs 151 Abhinandan prepaid plan from BSNL now matches Reliance Jio's Rs 149 prepaid plan which is also providing 1.5GB daily data. However, Jio's plan is valid for 28 days, whereas BSNL's plan is valid for just 24 days. Amidst the current financial status, BSNL has revised this plan to at least provide its users a reason to cheer about.

BSNL Rs 151 Prepaid Recharge Gets a Revision: All You Need to Know

The BSNL Rs 151 recharge or BSNL Abhinandan plan was introduced back in the second week of June 2019. The plan offered 1GB data per day, unlimited voice calling and 100 SMSes per day for 24 days. After the revision, the voice calling and SMS benefits of the plan remain the same, but the data benefit has been increased to 1.5GB daily data from 1GB data per day. The validity of the plan remains the same, though. The revised plan is already available for recharge for BSNL prepaid customers.

While BSNL says the data is 1.5GB per day, it's actually unlimited as the company will provide after FUP speeds of 40 Kbps which will be more than enough to do basic browsing and send WhatsApp messages. Another thing worth noting is the lack of 4G services on the BSNL network, so you'll have to consume the entire data benefit on 2G or 3G networks.

BSNL Rs 151 Recharge vs Reliance Jio Rs 149 Prepaid Plan

When it comes to prepaid plans priced below Rs 200, it's very hard to beat Reliance Jio. All the private telcos, including Airtel and Vodafone Idea, tried their best to beat Jio, but they failed. However, government-owned BSNL has been giving a tough fight to Jio with its attractive under Rs 200 prepaid plans. The new revision of Rs 151 also keeps it on-par with Jio's Rs 149 prepaid plan.

For the unaware, Jio's Rs 149 prepaid plan ships with 1.5GB data per day for a period of 28 days from the date of recharge. On the flip side, the BSNL Rs 151 prepaid plan also comes with the same 1.5GB data per day benefit after the revision. Both the plans ship with unlimited voice calling without any FUP limit and 100 SMSes per day for the entire plan validity period.

The only difference between both the plans is the validity. While Jio's plan offers the benefits for 28 days, BSNL's plan comes with just 24 days validity.

Nevertheless, with all the ongoing financial crisis, it's good to see BSNL making good changes to its prepaid plans and making consumers happy. BSNL is yet to clear the salaries of the employees for July 2019, but the company promised to clear the salaries by August 5.
