‘Magic Data voucher’ : Aircel’s response to rival’s data packs

By March 9th, 2016 AT 9:50 AM

Aircel, India’s fifth largest cellular operator, has now launched ‘Magic Data Voucher’ for their prepaid customers across their 3G circles.

The company’s new ‘Magic Data Voucher’ will offer up to 15 GB of 3G data for 28 days at only Rs 248 – the minimum assured data amount being 1.5 GB. The concept of ‘Magic Data Voucher’ isn’t unique as the rivals Idea, Airtel and Vodafone are already offering such kind of packs to promote their high speed data services.

Aircel is offering higher data value of 15 GB in this pack compared to packs being offered by other GSM operators in the market which offer up to 10 GB data value. But the ground reality is that none of these packs offers sure benefits equivalent to the maximum data limit advertised.

Aircel Magic Data Voucher Details
Price Rs 248
Benefits 1.5 to 15 GB of 3G data
Validity 28 Days
Availability In key circles (eg – Kolkata)

However unlike other operators, Aircel’s ‘Magic Data Voucher’ is limited to key circles where they have 3G presence. So if you’re planning to make recharges with this pack, we would request you to contact Aircel Care first for further information regarding the offer as it might not be available in your circle.

I am talking only for Aircel Tamilnadu customers here. The benefits will vary for other circles.

Go to the recharge page (not new recharge page) in the top right side of the aircel.com and then recharge.

It gives Rs.104 main account talk value, 104 all India SMS and 1 GB data for 30 days at Rs.204 for Tamilnadu customers. It gives Rs.353 main account talk value, 399 all India SMS, 3 GB data for 60 days.

It gives Rs.153 main account talk value, 283 all India SMS, 2 GB data for 30 days with Rs.283 recharge.

In Kolkata Aircel rocks!!! As well as 3G and 2G… though 3G network coverage is not upto AVoId… but it is very good. And the call quality is also very good.

In RoWB also AIRCEL call quality is better than airtel. Only problem with AIRCEL is less coverage in rural areas.

How is BSNL and Idea there?. Does Idea have 3G and 4G coverage?.

If you call a Kolkata mobile number from West Bengal using Kolkata SIM, will you be charged home network rates (I mean RLH like Chennai and Tamilnadu)?.

BSNl is crap here. Mainly government staffs uses BSNL.
Idea is good now a days but they don’t have own 3g in RoWB. I think except tata docomo all operator treats kolkata & west bengal as home circle.
Best mobile operator here is Vodafone in terms of customer base, customer service, call connectivity, etc. Vodafone have the most numbers of bts here too.
AIRCEL expanded their 3g last 3/4 month & their service is now very good at city.
