Bharti Airtel, a leading Indian telecom operator, has expressed interest in the newly launched energy-efficient antenna portfolio from Prose. The new antennas are said to cut radiation and contribute to the telecom operator's ESG (environmental, social and governance) goals. Prose said that Airtel is already pushing for a green initiative, and this new antenna portfolio has drawn keen interest from Bharti Airtel.

According to an ET report, Arshad Fakhari, President, Prose Technologies India said that Airtel has already taken the ESG initiative and all of its vendors have a mandate to contribute to meeting broad goals. Airtel has a goal of reducing the Green House Gas (GHG) emissions by more than 50% by FY2031.
The new antenna takes care of the carbon footprint, as it is a higher efficiency antenna, explained Fakhari. It consumes very low power and offers extended coverage, said the report. Prose can start supplying the radio within 8 weeks depending on the demand. The best thing from India's perspective is that Prose is fully geared to start manufacturing the new antenna systems at its Pune facility. This particular facility of the company started manufacturing in 2018.

Green products are the future of the industry. The telecom operators are focusing on making their business more environmentally friendly and reducing carbon footprint. Prose launched these new radios on Wednesday and they are under the "Protreem" family. The company claims that these new antennas are capable of improving the coverage efficiency by 20-25% and also ensure 25% less energy consumption. Prose has set up a booth at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2024 and is showcasing its products and solutions to vendors and the public.
It will be interesting to see if Airtel actually places an order for these antennas.
