WhatsApp has finally done what its users wanted it to do. The social media giant will now facilitate users with the option of migrating their chat data between an iOS and Android device. Until now, users had to resort to third-party applications for doing so. Looking at the demand for such a feature, it was only a matter of time before WhatsApp came out with its own solution. The new feature from WhatsApp that will now allow the migration of chat data between iOS and Android devices will only be available on select Android smartphones initially. Keep reading ahead to find out how this feature will work and whether it is available on your smartphone yet.

Only Select WhatsApp Users Will Be Able to Make Use of the Feature Initially

WhatsApp officially announced the feature in Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked 2021 event. The social media giant said that users will now have the option to switch between Android and iOS devices without worrying about losing their chat data.

The Facebook-owned platform announced that initially, this feature will only be available for the select users who own a Samsung Android smartphone. These users will be able to transfer all of WhatsApp data from their Android smartphone to the iOS smartphone and vice versa.

Until now, WhatsApp had avoided releasing the feature because it was facing problems with migrating the data between iOS and Android smartphones without causing problems with the end-to-end encryption system.

But it looks like the company is working with Samsung to resolve the issue and has also been a little successful with it. This is good news for users who weren’t migrating from an iOS to Android or vice versa because of the fear that they will lose their WhatsApp data completely.

With the new feature, WhatsApp said, users, will be able to transfer all of their data from one phone to another which includes all the texts, media, and voice notes.
