Vivo V17 will likely make its debut in India on December 9 as the company sends out media invites for a 'V' series phone launch. The Vivo V17 India launch has been long overdue as we saw the brand launching Vivo V17 Pro back in September this year. In fact, the Vivo V17 Pro already got its first price cut very recently, so the launch of Vivo V17 is definitely on the cards. For the unaware, Vivo V17 was recently launched in Russia, but the Indian variant of the handset will be a different one. As you can see in the teaser image, the company is teasing a phone with punch-hole display. The V17 launched in Russia featured a teardrop notch on top, but the V17 for India will have a punch-hole screen like the Vivo Z1 Pro.

Vivo V17 India Launch: What to Expect?

Vivo has been pretty aggressive in the Indian market in recent times. The Chinese brand is launching new phones back to back under various series. After launching the Vivo V17 Pro, the company came out with the Vivo Z1x (successor to the Vivo Z1 Pro ). Later on, we saw the brand unveiling Vivo U10 aiming at the online market. Just a couple of days ago, Vivo launched the Vivo U20 with Snapdragon 675 SoC at an aggressive price of Rs 10,990. And on December 9, it's gearing up to launch the Vivo V17.

Right now, we don't have many details regarding the Vivo V17 for the Indian market. A recent report from 91mobiles said that the specs of the Vivo V17 would be similar to the Russian variant, but to make it stand out in the industry, the company will include a punch-hole display on the front removing the teardrop notch. The V17 will be the company' second phone in the country to feature punch-hole display after the Vivo Z1 Pro.

Also, the same publication earlier reported the Vivo V17 would be priced around Rs 22,000 and it would be surely on the higher side considering the specs of the Russian variant.

Vivo V17: Specifications and Features

The Vivo V17 will feature downgraded specifications when compared to the Vivo V17 Pro. The phone sports a 6.38-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display on the front with a resolution of 1080x2340 pixels. Under the hood, it's powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chipset, paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The Vivo V17 will take on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro in terms of storage and RAM options.

Optics on the Vivo V17 include 48MP primary shooter on the back, 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, 2MP macro sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. The four sensors on the backside are arranged in a diamond-shaped module. On the front, the Vivo V17 will feature a 32MP snapper for selfies and video calling.

The handset will run FunTouch OS 9.2 based on Android 9 Pie out of the box. It's also rumoured that Vivo may rebrand the FunTouch OS to JoviOS which would be in-line with virtual assistant Jovi. The phone rocks a USB Type-C port on the bottom side and it will have a 4500mAh battery as well.

The rumoured Rs 22,000 pricing for the Vivo V17 is on the higher side, but as we all know, the Vivo V series of phones are aimed at the offline market in India.
