Samsung Galaxy A80 is now selling for Rs 39,990 in India, down from its launch price of Rs 47,990. The Galaxy A80 was launched right after the Redmi K20 smartphone and it has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G chipset, which is slightly powerful than the Snapdragon 730 SoC we get on the Redmi K20. That said, the Galaxy A80 costs more than double the Redmi K20 because it features a unique rotating camera mechanism. Even after the massive cut, the Galaxy A80 gets overshadowed by the OnePlus 7T which is priced at Rs 37,999 in India. The OnePlus 7T features Qualcomm's best chip right now - the Snapdragon 855+ and it even offers a 90Hz screen which we do not get to see on the Galaxy A80. Undoubtedly, the Galaxy A80 offers a full-screen experience, but the OnePlus 7T is a better overall buy at Rs 2,000 less for the same configuration of the Galaxy A80.

Samsung Galaxy A80 Price Cut: What You Need to Know

Back in July this year, Samsung launched the Galaxy A80 in India with a price tag of Rs 47,990. However, it's now retailing for Rs 39,990 on e-commerce portals like Amazon India and even Samsung Shop Online is selling the phone at Rs 39,990. That said, the price cut on the Galaxy A80 may be a temporary one and it will go back to the original launch price after the Diwali festive sales. The Galaxy A80 comes in only one configuration- 8GB+128GB.

Samsung Galaxy A80: Specifications and Features

The Galaxy A80 is the company's first phone to offer full-screen experience, thanks to the rotating camera module. The smartphone rocks a 6.7-inch Full HD+ display with 20:9 aspect ratio, 1080x2400 resolution and in-display fingerprint scanner. The Galaxy A80 is powered by the upper mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G chipset, clubbed with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. The pricing of the Galaxy A80 was equal to that the OnePlus 7 Pro which offers way specs and the fact that it has the Snapdragon 730G chipset did not go well with the audience. Notably, the Galaxy A80 is the costliest phone with Snapdragon 730G chipset, with the second one being the Oppo Reno 2.

As for the cameras, the rotating module packs three sensors- 48MP Sony IMX586 primary shooter, 8MP ultra-wide-angle and ToF sensors. And yes, the same cameras can be used to capture selfies and even attending video calls because of the rotating module.

The phone runs Android 9 Pie-based One UI out of the box and it's backed by a 3700mAh battery. It does not feature wireless charging, but Samsung is bundling 25W fast charger.

OnePlus 7T is a Better Pick Over the Galaxy A80

The Galaxy A80 can now be purchased for Rs 39,990, but it's still on the higher side when compared to the OnePlus 7T. As for the 7T, it offers a 6.55-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with an in-display fingerprint scanner and teardrop notch on top. The screen also offers 90Hz refresh rate and the phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ chipset, clubbed with 8GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of internal storage. The OnePlus 7T offers triple rear camera setup of 48MP primary sensor, 12MP telephoto lens and a 16MP ultra-wide-angle lens. Underneath, it has 3800mAh battery with support for Warp Charge 30T charging technology. The phone boots Android 10 out of the box.

All in all, the OnePlus 7T at Rs 37,999 is a better buy over the Galaxy A80 because it offers a faster processor, better cameras, latest Android software and charging speeds are also faster. The Galaxy A80 offers full-screen experience with no notch or punch-hole cameras, but the OnePlus 7T counters it with 90Hz refresh rate screen.
