OnePlus 8 Pro to Ditch Pop-Up Selfie Camera in Favour of Punch-Hole Display, Early Renders Reveal

Follow Us

Barely a week after the OnePlus 7T Pro launch, the OnePlus 8 Pro renders have leaked online suggesting the presence of punch-hole display, quad-camera setup on the back and the curved screen similar to the OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro. The OnePlus 8 Pro will be the first OnePlus phone to feature quad-camera setup on the back, according to these leaked early renders of the smartphone. A few weeks ago, the OnePlus 8 renders were also posted online which revealed the presence of punch-hole display, so we can assume that the OnePlus 8 series will offer punch-hole screens similar to the Samsung Galaxy S10 devices. OnePlus had the option to choose punch-hole displays for the OnePlus 7 and 7T series, but the company opted against for some unknown reasons. These renders are still early ones and the final product may differ compared to what we're seeing right now, so take this leak with a pinch of salt.

OnePlus 8 Pro Renders Out: Minor Design Changes Noticed

The first OnePlus 8 Pro renders were provided by OnLeaks in partnership with 91mobiles. Going by these renders, we can clearly see the OnePlus 8 Pro sporting a curved display like the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro. OnePlus delivered a full-screen experience with the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro smartphones by opting for the pop-up selfie camera. However, with the OnePlus 8 Pro, the company is going in the route of punch-hole screens and the cut-out on display will have selfie camera. Both the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro phones are said to come with a single selfie camera. Even Xiaomi is going with a dual cut-out display for the Redmi K30 series, offering dual selfie camera setup.

That being said, some may like this design, while some may still prefer the full-screen experience provided by the current OnePlus devices. The OnePlus 8 Pro is said to feature a 6.65-inch AMOLED display and it will have 90Hz refresh rate since OnePlus confirmed all its future phones would ship with Fluid AMOLED screens. There will be an in-display fingerprint scanner too.

On the rear side, the OnePlus 8 Pro will have four cameras- three of them are arranged vertically and the fourth sensor is present to the right of the camera module. Right now, we don't have any details regarding the camera setup, but the fourth sensor is said to be a 3D ToF one.

The OnePlus logo and the branding are also present on the back. To the right side, we can clearly see the Alert slider and power button, and the volume rockers are placed on the left. The USB Type-C port along with the SIM card tray are present on the bottom side of the smartphone. The phone is said to measure 165.3 x 74.4 x 8.8mm, but we don't have the exact weight of the handset as of now.

OnePlus 8 Pro: What to Expect?

As you can clearly see from the renders of the smartphone, the OnePlus 8 Pro will not feature a major makeover compared to the OnePlus 7T Pro or even the OnePlus 7 Pro. That said, OnePlus will surely upgrade the internals, like it always does. The phones will run Qualcomm's upcoming flagship chipset which the chipmaker is expected to announce in December this year. It will be interesting to see what OnePlus has in store for us next year, but the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro will not feature any radical changes in terms of design when compared to their predecessors. As noted, these are early renders of the OnePlus 8 Pro and the final design may change in the coming months.
