OnePlus to Develop AI, 5G and IoT Innovations at its R&D Facility

The R&D facility in Hyderabad will focus on several developments and it will not be just limited to OxygenOS. “In three years, we plan to grow the new R&D centre in Hyderabad into our biggest globally. We plan to re-focus our R&D efforts on a large scale and drive innovations in India for the global product, especially on the software side with special emphasis on Artificial Intelligence, 5G and IoT,” said Pete Lau, Founder and CEO, OnePlus.

The R&D facility is located at Vamsiram IT Park, Wipro Circle, Nanakramguda. According to OnePlus, the R&D Centre will feature three lab- camera lab which will focus on camera development, networking labs that will carry out various 5G testing in India, and automation labs which works majorly on software, AI and performance testing.

Furthermore, OnePlus says the facility will focus on five key areas- OxygenOS, global carrier customisation, network, software innovation and testing. With regards to software and network, the centre will specifically work on the development of India-specific OxygenOS features including OnePlus applications design and development and drive the 5G enablement for regions like India, EU and UK. Notably, OnePlus also has a 5G smartphone in the UK and Europe, so the testing would be carried at the R&D facility in India.

OnePlus to Open its Flagship Experience Store in Hyderabad

Not only the R&D centre, but OnePlus is also working to open its first flagship Experience Store in Hyderabad. OnePlus is aiming to grow in the offline market and the company currently has Experience Stores across the country, however, the Flagship Experience Store will offer a unique experience altogether.
