The Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro is getting a new update in India which brings support for popular Battle Royale game Fortnite. The MIUI update, going by version 10.2.10.0 is currently being pushed to users in India and our review unit has received it. It seems like the update is being pushed to every Redmi Note 7 Pro user in the country as it does not pack any new features. Besides the Fortnite support, the changelog of the update also notes 'Fix: Noises in the speaker.' The update weighs just over 200MB and it takes up to five minutes for the installation to complete. Just a few days ago, Xiaomi rolled out a major update to the Note 7 Pro which improved the camera performance, and now, it adds support for Fortnite which will be a delight to all the users out there. We have installed Fortnite on our smartphone and it's running at Medium graphics settings.

Redmi Note 7 Pro Now Supports Fortnite

Last week, when Realme launched the Realme 3 Pro smartphone in India, it made a huge deal saying that its phone supports Fortnite, but not the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro. However, Xiaomi officials immediately took to Twitter and confirmed that they're working with Epic Games to bring Fortnite support to Redmi Note 7 Pro as well. That said, in less than two weeks from the promise date, Xiaomi adds support for Fortnite which is a surprise.

But the real question is: why the Redmi Note 7 Pro did not have support for Fortnite earlier? Well, the Redmi Note 7 Pro comes powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 Mobile Platform which is a new chipset and there isn't a single smartphone in the United States with the said SoC. On the flip side, the Realme 3 Pro comes powered by the slightly older Snapdragon 710 chipset and there are some smartphones with the same chipset available in the United States. Since Epic Games is a US-based company, it's adding Fortnite support for the smartphones that are available in its homeland.

But with Realme making a huge deal on the absence of Fortnite support, Xiaomi had no other option but to work with Qualcomm and Epic Games to add support for Fortnite. Having said that, no one expected the support would be rolled out this quick, but you know, Xiaomi is feeling the pressure from Realme in India.

As noted, the Redmi Note 7 Pro runs Fortnite by default at Medium graphics settings and so does the Realme 3 Pro, so no surprises here.

Fortnite Appeals Fewer Users Than PUBG Mobile

Fortnite is also a Battle Royale game like PUBG Mobile, but the availability of the game is limited to select Android smartphones. In India, PUBG Mobile has a separate fan base, and the fact that the game can be installed on any Android smartphone is impeccable, and it can't be matched by Fortnite in the near future. However, things are slowly changing as the Realme 3 Pro is the first mid-range smartphone to support Fortnite, and now, the Redmi Note 7 Pro is added to the list as well.
