Xiaomi branched out Redmi into a separate sub-brand of its own which will now focus on launching affordably priced smartphones. There have been rumours of many smartphones in the pipeline which are slated to be launched in the January 10th event going to be held in China. The major launch which is being planned by the company for this date is the Redmi smartphone with the 48MP rear camera. Previously, Xiaomi executives hinted towards the launch of this phone via different banners, and now another picture of the same phone has been released by the Global spokesperson, Director of Product Management, Donovan Sung.
The picture which has been posted by the Xiaomi executive is black and shows the design of the smartphone with sharp edges. The rear of the smartphone looks glassy in the picture. The picture shows a vertically oriented dual rear camera setup of a 48MP camera along with an LED flash. The speculations say that the phone might be the Redmi Pro 2, whereas some of the recent ones have asserted that this phone might be the Redmi X.
Device to Come in Many Colour Options
Xiaomi CEO has also shared pictures of this smartphone and has confirmed that like it was the case with Mi Play, this phone will also come in many colour options like pink, red, purple and others. The CEO has also reportedly confirmed that the phone would sport 2.5D glass on the rear side with gradient finish which will give impressive aesthetics to the device. On the back side, we also get to see the circular fingerprint sensor placed in the middle, and the lower rear side of the phone contains the Redmi branding. There is another good news for those who are awaiting this smartphone, the device will sport a USB Type-C port instead of a micro USB port.
Speculated Specifications and Features
The new Redmi phone which is slated to come with a 48MP camera has been teased a lot. There have been many leaks and renders of the device, and some prime specifications have been hinted by the company executives as well. The launch is scheduled to happen on January 10th, where the brand is also expected to launch the Redmi 7 and probably the Redmi Note 7 too. According to the details leaked online about the new 48 MP smartphone, the device will support AI camera features, will boot MIUI 10 on top of Android 9 Pie alongside sporting 6.3-inch full HD+ display with a waterdrop style notch. Lastly, the phone has been hinted to pack a 4000mAh battery.
