Asus Zenfone 6 Working Prototype Video Leaked, Reveals Off-Centre Notch and Dual Rear Cameras

Asus is currently working on its next flagship device, and it is most likely to be called the Zenfone 6. The Taiwanese company, earlier this year, launched the Zenfone 5Z which because of its design and overall performance, gained tremendous success in the market and wide popularity among the consumers. Asus is yet to confirm the existence of the Zenfone 6, but the prototypes and videos of the smartphone have been making rounds on the internet from quite sometime now.

The newly leaked prototypes reveal a completely different story compared to the past leaks. Some pictures of the supposed Asus Zenfone 6 leaked online last week which revealed that the smartphone would come with a notched display and triple cameras. But now, going by some new prototypes of the phone leaked by folks at HD Blog, suggests that the smartphone will have just two cameras on the rear panel. Although the prototypes are of a pre-production unit of the Zenfone 6, this means Asus may rethink to add the third camera on the back.

Asus Zenfone 6 Prototypes: What They Reveal?

Not much about the specs of the Zenfone 6 is known at the moment. In contrary to the previous leaks, the newly leaked images suggest that the Zenfone 6 comes with off centre notch, meaning the position of the notch will be changed to the sides from the middle of the display like in the iPhones and other notched display Android phones. The prototypes further reveal that the Zenfone 6 will have a tall display, definitely more than 6-inch.

The prototypes show the Zenfone 6 from both the rear and front panel. The back side of the phone feels glassy and boats off dual cameras. As noted, previously leaked images showed the phone with three cameras. This creates some confusion if the phone will sport two or three cameras.

With other manufacturers moving to include three or even four cameras on the back, looks like Asus is working to keep things simple, but perfect. On the front, although the prototype isn't clear enough, looks like the Zenfone 6 has a single camera.

Fingerprint sensor and Face Unlock

It looks like Asus isn't working to adapt to the new trends. After the notched display, smartphone manufacturers are now working on bringing in display fingerprint sensor to their phones. For instance, after Vivo launched the V11 Pro, and Oppo brought the Oppo R17, OnePlus recently announced the OnePlus 6T, which is the first phone from the company to come with under display fingerprint sensor. Surprisingly, Asus will keep the physical fingerprint sensor on the Zenfone 6 on the back panel paired with the camera.

The Zenfone 6 is expected to sport Face Unlock support, 3.5mm headphone jack and will run Android 9 Pie out of the box. On the hardware front, the phone is said to be powered by either Snapdragon 845 or the latest Snapdragon 800 chipset that Qualcomm is expected to announce around the end of this year. As far as the launch timeline of the Zenfone 6 is concerned, Asus is expected to launch it around MWC 2019 which is expected to happen in coming February.
