As of late, we have been seeing that a lot of smartphone manufacturers are cutting down the prices of their phones due to the festival season. While Lenovo and Xiaomi also did the same, now the Finnish upstart, HMD Global is following the trend and cutting down prices of its many budget-oriented smartphones. Not only that, but the flagship device by Nokia has also received a massive price cut which will attract a lot of eyes. Overall, the budget devices have received a price cut of about Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500, while the flagship handset Nokia 8 Sirocco got a much-needed price cut of Rs 13,000 in the country.
Budget Nokia Phones With Price Cut
Firstly, the Nokia 3.1 which comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage will retail at Rs 10,999 now, down from its original price of Rs 11,999. It’s worth noting that the Nokia 3.1 was launched in May, with the 3GB/32GB version launching later this year alongside the Nokia 2.1 and Nokia 5.1. The phone sports a 5.2-inch HD+ display which features a resolution of 720x1440 pixels with an 18:9 aspect ratio screen. In terms of performance, the phone runs on an octa-core MediaTek MT6750 SoC. HMD recently launched the Nokia 3.1 Plus with Helio P22 SoC, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage at a price of Rs 11,499. So the price cut of Nokia 3.1 doesn't come as a surprise.
Next up on the list of phones receiving a price cut is the Nokia 5.1, which comes with the 3GB RAM/32GB internal storage and now costs Rs 10,999 thus denoting a price cut of Rs 1,500. This phone by Nokia sports a 5.5-inch Full HD+ display featuring a resolution of 1080x2160 pixels with an IPS LCD panel which comes with 18:9 aspect ratio. The display also comes protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. On the processing front, the phone packs the octa-core MediaTek MT6755S SoC under the hood. HMD also launched the Nokia 5.1 Plus in India at a price of Rs 10,999 and it sports the superior MediaTek Helio P60 chipset, but it's an online-only smartphone.
The Nokia 6.1 is another phone which gets a price cut. Both the variants of Nokia 6.1 which come with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage and 4GB RAM and 64GB storage have received price cuts of Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000 respectively. The 3GB variant of the Nokia 6.1 will now bear a price tag of Rs 13,499, whereas the 4GB option of the Nokia 6.1 now retails for Rs 16,499.
To recall, the Nokia 6.1 was launched in India back in April when the 3GB variant came with a price tag of Rs 16,999 while the 4GB option debuted with a price tag of Rs 18,999. In August, the phones received a slash in pricing with the cost coming down by Rs 1,500. Sadly, the Nokia 7 Plus did not receive any price cut.
The Nokia 6.1 comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD display with 1080x1920 pixel resolution on an IPS LCD panel. Under the hood, the phone runs on an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 SoC, which pairs with 3GB/ 4GB of RAM and 32GB/ 64GB of internal storage. The phone also allows for storage expansion up to 128GB via microSD card. The phone comes with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, and it also comes with Android One Certification.
Premium Nokia Phone With Rs 13,000 Price Cut
Lastly, the phone which has received the most significant price cut is the flagship device by HMD Global, the Nokia 8 Sirocco will now retail for Rs 13,000 less than its previous price tag. The phone will now bear a price tag of Rs 36,999, down from its last price tag of Rs 49,999. The Nokia 8 Sirocco comes with 5.5-inch Quad HD display with 1440x2560 pixel resolution. The phone sports pOLED display which curves at the sides and also has a 16:9 screen which is covered by 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection. The phone packs an impressive octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC which comes accompanied by 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM. On the software front, the phone boots Android 8.1 Oreo, and it also comes with Android One Certification.
