Motorola has now confirmed that it will be updating eight smartphones under its Moto Z, Moto X and Moto G series to Android 9 Pie. The eight smartphones are Moto Z3, Moto Z3 Play, Moto Z2 Force, Moto Z2 Play, Moto G6 Plus, Moto G6, Moto G6 Play and Moto X4. All these smartphones were released in the last one year, and the earlier launched devices such as the Moto G5, G5 Plus, G5S Plus are completely left out which is underwhelming. Having said that, Motorola just issued the list of devices which will be upgraded to the latest iteration of Android, but it did not reveal when it will roll out the update though. Maybe the update will be rolled out to the users by the end of this year.

Eight Motorola Devices to Receive Android 9 Pie Update
On the whole, Motorola has listed Android 9 Pie update for eight devices, which include the smartphones launched in the last 14 months. The Moto Z2 Play is the oldest one in the list as it was announced back at the start of June 2018. The Moto Z2 Force is the second oldest device to the users in the United States, but in India, it was launched earlier this year.
The Moto X4 was unveiled at the IFA 2017 event. And then the Moto G6 series was launched this year, while the Moto Z3 and Z3 Play went official just a month ago.
No Android 9 Pie for Moto G5 and G5S Series
The Moto G5, G5 Plus, G5S and G5S Plus users must be feeling a bit disappointed at the moment as the company will not be rolling out Android 9 Pie update. This is underwhelming as the G5S and G5S Plus smartphones were launched exactly a year ago, whereas the G5 and G5 Plus devices were announced at the MWC 2017 event.
