HMD Global has launched the entry-level Nokia 1 Android Oreo (Go Edition) smartphone in India for Rs 5,499. The device will be up for sale across offline stores starting March 28, and the company has teamed up with telecom operator Reliance Jio to bring down the effective price of the smartphone. Along with JioFootball cashback offer, the Nokia 1 comes down to a price of Rs 3,299, and the cashback amount of Rs 2,200 is instant. The Nokia 1 will take on the likes of Lava Z50 Android Go smartphone, which was launched for Rs 4,499 last week and the Alcatel 1x of which the price is yet to be revealed. The Nokia 1 will be available in India in two colour options- warm red and dark blue.

The USP of the Nokia 1 is the lightweight Android OS it runs. The phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition) out of the box and comes preloaded with apps such as Google Go, Gmail Go and several other Go apps of Google. Another aspect where the Nokia 1 shines is the colourful design as the phone comes in two colour options as stated earlier. However, the company also launched the Xpress On covers in the country which will be made available separately starting from April 2018 at an MRP of Rs 450 only. The Xpress On add-on covers will be available in a pack of azure and grey or yellow and pink. That said, HMD Is looking to bring back the good-old Lumia devices feel.
